Prepared Wanderer turned me onto the Etsy shop of Bastion Gear after seeing a post of me looking for a HPG alternative (they are always out of stock) and the fact that Bastion was willing to do custom work.
After a few mock ups of what I was looking for, payment was made and the finished product was done 2 days latter. I can't recommend his stuff enough after having inspected the craftsmanship first hand.
Below is a walk through of the bag as setup for my MY 50 Mile GHB add-on that can function as an E&E setup with a weapon on board.
Custom "Mr. Frosty" SPECS:
MATERIAL: Finnish Army M05 Woodland Army Military Camouflage
ADD ONS:
1. SM & LG Velcro backed pouches like the ones with the "BRAVO" model to take up all the as much space as possible, without interfering with zipper operation.
This pocket will be used without pouches and a gun in their place or vice-versa, not both at same time.
SM Pouch Material = Coyote Brown
LG Pouch Material = Ranger Green
2. Add D-rings to inner edge of gun pocket compartment @ 45deg angles to allow attaching of 550 cord for hanging outside pouch to allow one handed opening to when zippers are positioned in the corners to draw from and 550 cord is hanging outside.
3. OUSTIDE MOLLE
a. Three (3) rows of molle like the BRAVO has is preferred but still want the zippered pocket.
If the pocket needs to be smaller and the zipper placed between the top two rows of MOLLE, that's fine.
The rig will either run "slick" without anything on the outside MOLLE or it will have a (3) mag holder attached which covers all the front and access to the zipper will be blocked.
If this is not possible, then standard FROSTY config without the velcro will work.
4. Add 10" to normal length of straps for use over several layers of clothing.
5. Include gun holster
6. Add a dummy cord ring where the one on "Mr Frosty" is. (see image)
7. WP zippers
The maker "Boriss" said he thought that WP zippers would not work for the one handed opening and he was right, but I wanted the WP zippers more than the one handed opening feature as this is not an EDC for a CHL and a fast draw is not needed. As you can see in the video, it's easily opened one handedly with some prepositioning of the zipper pulls.
Mods were an additional $25.00 over the standard "MR. Frosty" chest pack.
Total Cost: $193.95
