DIGIRIG & WIN10 SETTINGS
A PICTORIAL POST OF SETTING UP WINDOWS / DIGIRIG / JS8CALL / VARA AC
Sometimes we all need a starting point when it comes to setting up sound cards and software. My goal for this post is to get you setup quickly and hopefully this will be all you need to operate. It works for my setup, YMMV.
If your rig is transmitting when a Windows sound goes off? This is were you setup is wrong.
These are specific to my FT-891 DigiRig and my Yaesu FT-891 radio but should work for most setups with minor adjustments.
BLUF:
INPUT CARD
Level 100 (adjust with gain on FT-891)
Disable Enhancements
AGC off, Window Updates might turn it back on!
VARA AC
RA-Broad PTT, nothing else selected
Left channel only
JS8CALL
Left, not mono when selecting audio card
IMPORTANT NOTE
BE SURE TO RESTART ANY PROGRAMS (JS8CALL ESPECIALLY) AFTER CHANGING A SETTING IN THE SOUNDS SETTINGS ON WINDOWS. IT WILL SEND AUDIO TO THE DEFAULT DEVICE EVEN THOUGH DIGIRIG IS SELECTED IN JS8CALL, RESTART AND IT WILL WORK.
WINDOWS SOUNDS
JS8CALL SETTINGS
VARA AC SETINGS
ONE LAST ITEM
Right click on the speaker symbol, then “open sound settings” then “advanced sound options”.
Set all radio devices to use your DigiRig audio and Windows to use the laptop hardware. Default might work, but best to force the audio for Window programs to the local hardware on the laptop.
i would start at the yaesu website with downloading the windoze usb drivers. Assuming cat control, or projecting using flrig.
Outstanding presentation. Thanks very much.
