HAM SHACK BACKUP/RESTORE
A SCRIPT TO KEEP A CURRENT BACK UP YOUR SETTING AND TO RESTORE THEM
In the PART 2 of THE MINUTEMAN HF MICRO KIT, I went over the process I use for backing up and restoring an operating system (Win10) and all programs and drivers needed for my HAM Shack using FreeFileSync.
You want to keep an up-to-date mirror of your program databases, settings, forms, etc. on you DATA1 USB for performing a complete system restore so no log entries or preferences in the programs (like JS8Call, FLDigi, etc) are lost on a full system reset.
This process is a huge time saver once you have established your paths to the files and made the corrections in the batch files.
THESE ARE SET TO WORK WITH MY FILE PATHS, YOU NEED TO CHANGE THEM TO YOURS TO WORK.
There are two scripts used:
They are rudimentary (using the Win10/11 Native program ROBOCOPY) but get the job done, below are contents of the files and how they interact when run. I have left two reserved place holders for you to add your own items to backup/retore.
Below is how the script performs, the BACKUP script just reverses the MIRRORING source and destination to put it on the USB.
If you run the .bat from your DATA1 USB, the batch file will find the assigned drive letter it is on automatically.
