Last time out I had several light NDs while trying to be stealthy and swore off using a “step style” light ever again.
I was using a Zebra headlamp that has a very low beam if you press and hold the on button, but if you press too fast and release it comes on full power (like 300LUM) or it toggles to the next level in the 60LUM realm.
Both are very bad when you are trying to remain undetected.
Below is my solution using a Photon Freedom Press Light and some velcro.
