Last year (2023) I was looking for a field knife slash fighter for my line gear, and almost bought a Gerber Strongarm (probably the best off the shelf option) but decided to go with a custom instead.
STEADFASTS WORK FOR “THE MODERN MINUTEMAN”
After seeing the workmanship on Jays custom above, I decided to go with Steadfast Handcrafted Knifes to bring to life my “ultimate” fighter/utilitarian design.
WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR
Unlike the big knife of Jays above, I already have a Becker 7 as my “big knife”, I was looking for something just as sturdy but with a little more utilitarian capabilities but geared as a fighter first.
I already have a custom WSK (image above) for bushcraft work that excels in that domain, but it is not very utilitarian outside of that realm.
Likewise, the Becker 7 above is a great chopper, but a little too big for many other tasks.
WHAT I GOT

Is a perfectly balanced knife that is smaller than your standard 12” OAL fighter but just as capable.
The blade profile mimics the Israeli Fighter which is a stronger version of the classic Bowie. It also features a classic guard and G10 grips to keep the hand where it belongs and not on my own blade when stabbing.
I prefer not to keep a lanyard on the blade due to it being a snag hazard, but having needed my knife to cut myself out of tangle foot and almost lost it, I am glad the lanyard whole is there if needed.
The blade rides on my JayJay LBE forward of the Commander’s Pouch on my strongside for quick access, but more importantly because it’s easy to re-holster one handed in this position.
BLADE SPECS
8670 steel (high carbon spring steel, 60-61 HRC)
SST guard and 1/4" Corby fasteners.
OD Green Micarta handle, thin white liners.
I CAN NOT RECCOMEND ENOUGH!
Working with Steadfast was very easy and giving him “artistic license” is recommended as he knows what works and what doesn’t.
He is a great communicator and very responsive.
