I bought one of these for $100.00 at the local surplus store in 2018. It has become one of my favorite packs and is currently my GHB of choice that I keep in my car for my daily 50 mile commute.
On one hand, I don't like the one central pocket style packs compared to the ALICE with several exterior pockets, but then on the other hand, it hauls the weigh better and being more narrow has it's advantages.
The pull forward belt mod really changes this pack into a well fitted setup. Without it, the leverage is just not there to get a snug hip belt for maximum weight transfer. The “load lifter” mod is also a must have IMO.
If you have a chance to pick one up even at $250, I would say it's still a bargain.
