Great write up I have been enjoying this journey of yours...I noticed you had some pictures of a ground sleeping set up as well, ala..air mattress. I would be curious if you had tested any of those verses the hammock set up...great job I am glad you do these write ups although they don't seem to garner as much attention I for one seriously appreciate them.Thank you for the work you share...
I have not tested ground setups as much, those pictures are of my current options and I will be testing versions of them in this series. Just need to brace myself for the suck compared to a hammock setup. :)
Glad to hear it worked reasonably well. I think if you were able to seal the gap between the hammock and the poncho; it would likely add another 5-10deg of comfort rating. Maybe some shock cord in the hammock kit for easy lashing?
Yes. I was referring to the tarp over the swagman. You would need to find a way to keep the poncho/mylar blanket/ etc from having any gaps at the ends. A section of shock cord might work

Not sure what gap you mean. It's against the hammock from what I can tell. https://youtu.be/rHis_ye-T4o?feature=shared&t=71
Oh, I see what you are talking about. Adding a poncho and keeping it against the Swagman instead of it's natural tendency to be very loose.
I thought you were talking about the Swagman, missed the "poncho" part. I will definitely take this route first.

I wonder if some Velcro sewn to the swagman and adhesive to the poncho would work?
